In 2017, Moto Guzzi introduced the V7 III to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the V7 series. The bike still boasts an air-cooled pushrod V-twin, just like the original V7 from 1967, mounted transversely in the frame — one of the most iconic engines of all time. Says Guzzi…
“There are many excellent twin cylinder engines in the world, but there is only one transversal V and it is the Moto Guzzi twin, born in 1967 out of an ingenious intuition by Mr. Giulio Cesare Carcano and characterized by a configuration of the cylinders so particular that it made it an integral part of the bike’s design, like a true modern art metallic sculpture…”
For the third evolution of the brand’s best-selling bike, power rose around 10% — 52 bhp at 6200 rpm — but the real focus was less on performance than riding experience, bringing the V7 into the modern era without losing the Guzzi soul and character.
Enter Francisco of Rusty Wrench Motorcycles, aka RW Motorcycles — a workshop, brand, and brick-and-mortar store for bike lovers on Portugal’s stunning Algarve coast. For this build, Francisco’s client wanted a classic, simple, and elegant look for his Moto Guzzi V7 III Stone, which actually eschews any chrome in stock trim, keeping to a matte-black aesthetic.
The finished product harks back to the Moto Guzzi roadsters of old, replete with stainless steel, polished alloy, and rich leather accoutrements that connect the bike to its history while carrying the rider into the future.
