The Kawasaki Ninja 300 is successor to the long-running entry-level sport bike, the Ninja 250R. Also known as the Ninja 300R, the bike was first introduced in 2012.

For decades, the Ninja series has been synonymous with high-performance sport bikes. While this 300cc version may not be as expensive as its larger brethren, you’re surely wondering how much it will cost to insure a Ninja 300.

Ninja 300 Insurance Rates

Premiums vary widely for any bike, based on a wealth of factors:

  • Make and model of bike
  • Driving record
  • Age of rider
  • State you live in
  • Credit score

For liability only, we have seen Ninja 300 insurance as low as $120 – 200 per year. Other users have reported rates ranging from $400-500 per year when comprehensive and/or collision is included.  With these factors in mind, there are ways you can lower your premiums.

Ninja 300 History

The Ninja 250R — the predecessor to the Ninja 300 — hit American shores in the late 80s. The bike stayed largely unchanged until 2008, when the bike was extensively redesigned.

In 2012, Kawasaki unveiled the Ninja 300, which has a number of improvements over its predecessor:

  • Larger engine
  • Wider rear tire
  • Slipper clutch
  • Optional ABS

The Ninja 300 offers nearly 40 horsepower, with a 0-60 time of 5.6 seconds, a quarter mile time of 14.5 seconds, and a top speed of 112 mph. The bike is meant as a direct competitor to the range of other 300cc sport bikes now on the market, including the Honda CBR300R and Yamaha R3.

Kawasaki Ninja 300 Coverage Recommendations

The vast majority of states require insurance coverage for motorcycles. At minimum, a liability policy is typically required. Liability doesn’t cover the bike — only the damages you cause in an accident.

While a liability-only policy is typically your cheapest insurance option, it’s only available if you bought your Ninja outright. If you financed the bike, your lender will typically require you full coverage.
