Born-Free Texas Motorcycle Show

“The wildest chopper party in the South…”

Back in 2009, friends Mike Davis and Grant Peterson decided to throw a get-together of vintage choppers in Orange County, California…and the Born-Free Motorcycle Show was born.

“Born-Free’s meteoric rise quickly made it ‘the’ place for old and young from all over the world to ride in, see, and talk about old iron for one day… The Born-Free Show is a back-to-basics show built on this impromptu action of people building and riding their vintage Harleys, Hondas, Indians, Triumphs (and more) into the show which then becomes ‘the show.'”

Now, more than 15 years later, the Born-Free California show attracts more than 25,000 spectators and participants, and the show has expanded to Texas. Last month, Born-Free Texas 4 took over Yellow Rose Canyon for four full days of “motorcycles, music, mayhem, and memories you’ll talk about all year.”

While choppers remain the heart of the show, there’s something for everyone, from the Wall of Death to dirt track racing, dirt drags, art shows, bands, and more.

This year, our Georgia buddies Drew Perlmutter (light-wrangler, moto-journalist, and two-wheeled adventurer extraordinaire) and Chastin Brand (hand-painter, vintage racer, and recent guest on Ride with Norman Reedus) decided to make the drive west to experience the show…and for Chastin to race his vintage Triumph desert sled in the Hell on Wheels MC Dirt Track event.

You may remember Drew and Chastin from their Vintage 1000 Baja adventure last year, where they rode over 1000 on pre-1981 motorcycles with the good folks from Chattanooga’s Speed Deluxe.
