Purpose Built Moto is giving away this Husqvarna Vitpilen 401!

The Husky Vitpilen 401 sports the same single-cylinder engine as the KTM 390 Duke, wrapped in a lightweight steel-trellis frame and four-piece plastic body kit that gives the bodywork a distinctly monocoque look. The Austrian-built bike weighs 330 lbs, and the engine puts down 41 horsepower at the rear wheel. Says Wes Reyneke of Bike EXIF:

“It sure is a ripper…. That 373.2 cc power plant is insanely punchy, and the 401 hops off the line with the slightest encouragement.”

Enter Tom John and company of Australia’s Purpose Built Moto, who documented this build last summer in their Youtube series: Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 Build – Stock to Street Tracker. Their vision for this 401 project was clear:

“Just an ultimate fun machine. Street tracker + Super Motard influences in both performance and style.”

What they didn’t expect was how crazy everyone would go about the build. While Tom had originally planned to keep the Vitpilen at PMB, he and the team soon decided to come up with a plan to release the Husky into the wild:

“So the idea was if we could run a competition that gave our followers the chance to own the project, and cover our costs for the custom work and video production, we would re-up and go again.”

• How did the idea for the giveaway come about?

We had a heap of fun doing this series and build, and we wanted to do more. I was originally going to keep the Vitpilen but we also figured out people were going crazy over this bike we were building. Everyone was hurrying us up to finish it. So the idea was if we could run a competition that gave our followers the chance to own the project, and cover our costs for the custom work and video production, we would re-up and go again.
