A few weeks ago was the 10th annual edition of The Malle Mile, “the British Inappropriate Motorcycle Race & Festival in Motion” hosted by the good folks at Malle London. This celebration of the speed, music, and the art of motorcycle culture was sparked by a late-night drag race in East London a decade ago between founders Robert and Jonny.
Today “The Mile” has grown into one of the world’s bucket-list motorcycling events…especially for those with a racing itch.
“Suddenly, you then find yourself 10 years later, in the future present, still on a drag race start line, surrounded by so many wild machines, friends, fire sculptures, flaming dancers, bands, artists, family, and beautiful chaos of our own making. The are the good old days.” -Robert, Jonny, and the MM family
In addition to the bands, exhibitions, and displays, there’s a nonstop gauntlet of races like the Malle Scramble, the Art of Sprint, the Roughs Race, motorcycle polo, and more…all amidst the gorgeous grounds of Grimsthorpe Castle in the heart of Lincolnshire.
Our man on the ground was Roberto Garagarza (@roga______), a London-based Mexican photographer who always covers The Bike Shed Show for us. Now he’s back with a second round of photographs to share.
For those who can’t wait until next year, there’s good news. In October, the Malle family will be hosting their first-ever Malle Canyon Race in Lisbon, Portugal! From October 10th – 13th they will be taking over a beautiful canyon 25 mins south of Lisbon with a full program of motorcycle madness…perhaps we’ll see you there!
