The Lions of Leonberg: Glemseck 101 in Photos

Glemseck 101FNY Photographie captures the high-octane sprint beasts of Glemseck…

Last month was the 17th annual edition of the Glemseck 101, said to be the largest outdoor motorcycle festival in all of Europe. Each year, more than 40,000 motorcycle enthusiasts ride, drive, and fly to the former “Solitude” racetrack (Solituderennen) in Leonberg, Germany, just outside Stuttgart, for the event.

Our man Roman Juriš was there last month with his Yamaha XS400 “Roadster”, reporting from the ground:

“This year brought great motorcycles, racing machines, again an incredibly friendly atmosphere and beautiful sunny weather with temperatures above 30°C. Of course, a lot of beer, German sausages, and excellent organization. In short: the weekend was flawless.”

We published Roman’s coverage of the event last month. In the interim, the photographs of another friend of ours, Loïs Ambiehl, caught our attention. Loïs built, rides, and races a badass Bandit-Powered Suzuki GSX1100 we featured last year, but he’s also one hell of a light-wrangler, publishing his Canon R6 shots as FNY Photographie.

Glemseck 101Loïs had a special eye out for the sprint racers and drag bikes on display and in action at Glemseck. The event is famous for these 1/8-mile sprint/drag races on an old section of the historic track, performed under the auspices of Glemseck 101 Race Control with old-school flag drop starts.

Glemseck 101So we asked Loïs to round up some of his favorite shots from the event. Without further ado, here’s a host of images straight from the lens of the FNY Photographie Canon. Enjoy!
