The Lords of Sprint: Glemseck 101 in Photos

Glemseck 101FNY Photographie Captures the 1/8-Mile Lions of Leonberg…

Last month, the 18th annual edition of the Glemseck 101 took place at the former “Solitude” racetrack (Solituderennen) in Leonberg, Germany, just outside Stuttgart. Said to be the largest outdoor motorcycle festival in Europe, more than 40,000 motorcycle enthusiasts attend each year.

Our man Roman Juriš rode his custom Suzuki SV650 more than 1000 kilometers from his home in Slovakia to report from the ground:

“A great mood everywhere, people are having fun, talking, going to watch sprint races, drinking beer, and eating wursts (sausages) and the like. Of course, many extravagant people and motorbikes, but also great custom bikes and people discussing professionally and sharing their experiences, especially with custom work or rare pieces.” -Roman

We published Roman’s coverage of the event last month. Now we’re back with photographs from another friend of ours, Loïs Ambiehl of FNY Photographie. Loïs built, rides, and races a badass Bandit-Powered Suzuki GSX1100 we featured a couple years ago, and he’s also a gifted light-wrangler.

As a racer himself, Loïs has a special eye for the sprint racers and drag bikes that make Glemseck famous. These 1/8-mile sprint/drag races take place on an old section of the historic track, performed under the auspices of Glemseck 101 Race Control with old-school flag drop starts.

We asked Loïs to round up some of his favorite shots from the event. Without further ado, here’s a gallery of images straight from the FNY Photographie Canon. Enjoy!

  2. What could be better than hanging out with fellow gearheads, racing our bikes and just having a great time!?
Sigh, just another reason for me to spend some time in Europe ‼️🇨🇦
