Yamaha XV750 Cafe Racer

Yamaha XV750 Cafe Racer

Today we’re thrilled to showcase a Yamaha XV750SE cafe racer by one of our favorite builders, Moto Adonis of The Netherlands. Daan and crew consistently turn out some of the most innovative and well-proportioned bikes in the custom world.  The Yamaha Virago/XV series has become a popular platform for cafe racers, but this XV750 immediately leapt out from the pack with its raw style, muscular lines, and details like the hand-painted Benelli tank and GP-style exhaust.

Yamaha Virago 750 Cafe Racer:  Build Story

Yamaha Virago 750 Cafe Racer

The image of motorcyclists has been changing a lot over the years. No longer are bikers perceived only as semi-gangsters wearing cuts and riding Harleys with drag pipes. A community of friendship, creativity, and freedom has sprouted up, and Daan of Moto Adonis believes that this XV750 really puts those three words together.

The bike was built for Dutch Marine officer Guy van Rijsbergen. First things first, the crew stripped down the “butt-ugly, chopper-styled” Yamaha and “gave the bastard a nice new 2003 R1 front fork.” The front wheel is from a 2008 R1, and the brake and clutch controls are Triumph. To make the brakes fit the discs, Moto Adonis had an RVS bracket designed by their friends at Ozz Customs, keeping the spirit of friendship alive.

They then welded up a new subframe and made a diamond-stitched seat to get the lines of the bike straight. The tank is one of the most striking aspects of this build. It’s a Benelli model, which was let to rest for a time, and Lisa of Dutch on Wheels was given free rein to hand-paint the tank as she saw fit. What a hell of a job!

The speedometer is a Koso model which fits perfectly between the tank and R1 top triple. The crew fitted a K&N airbox to let the V-twin breathe and welded up a custom exhaust and new muffler.

As headman Daan says,

“We all had lots of fun on building and creating this little beast but now it’s time for our Marine officer to give it a spin! Hope you like it as much as we do!”
