The television series Hawaii Five-O is in its second iteration and is a strong running police procedural based on the Hawaiian Islands. The original series first aired in 1968 and completed twelve seasons, making it the longest running series of its type at the time. The reboot of the show began airing in 2010 and episodes have been ordered through the 2016 season. At various times, Chin Ho has ridden a motorcycle of unusual provenance, causing many watchers to ask what is the motorcycle from Hawaii Five-O? It is a Lito SORA Electric Superbike.
The Lito Sora Electric Superbike
Lito Green Motion, a Canadian manufacturer, first presented its concept electric motorcycle in 2011. After several years of development, the production Lito SORA Electric Superbike does not deviate far from the first concept. Lito Green Motion has this to say about the SORA:
”The revolutionary SORA features the best design elements of Bobber and Café Racer/Street Fighter bikes, combined in one innovative, zero-compromise electric superbike. The Bobber influence can be seen in the rear fender that is fixed to the wheel, while the Street Fighter influence can be seen in the dynamics of the front of the bike. The result? A unique style of motorcycle that is part custom, part sport bike — combined in one supermachine.”
Other than being an amazingly attractive bike, the SORA features a unique instrument group. The panel features a 5.7-inch touch screen alongside the Motogadget gauges–a first in motorcycle production. Another cool tech toy is the keycard ignition. Power is provided by a 12 kWh lithium-polymer battery pack. It has a range of approximately 124 miles, or 200 km for our Euro readers. Unfortunately, that number is only under city driving conditions. Open her up on the highway and the range drops to 62 miles (100 km). Those darn higher speeds eat up battery power quick! Speaking of highway speeds, the SORA has a top speed of 118 mph (190 km/h). The biggest downside to the Sora is the absence of a quick charge option. That means your bike will be sitting at a standard charger for nearly nine hours at a time.
