Enter Yohanes Marse — “Anes” — of Indonesia’s Jowo Kustom, established in 2014. Recently, we featured the Bandit 400 cafe racer Anes built for a customer. Now he’s back with a Scorpio brat tracker, built for a customer who wanted a lightweight, clean, tasteful tracker that could handle multiple different roads on his crowded daily commute. Anes fabricated a custom frame, swing arm, luggage rack, and more. The finished bike was awarded the prestigious Golden Ticket at The  Suryanation Motorland Garage 2018 Surabaya event — congrats, Anes!

Below, we get the full story on this Scorpio Z tracker from the builder himself.

Yamaha SX225 Tracker: Builder Interview

Yamaha Scorpio Z Tracker

Please tell us a bit about yourself, your history with motorcycles, and your workshop.

First, my name is Yohanes Marse, but my friends called me Anes. My workshop began operated since 2014 as custom culture workshop. I saw the scene of custom culture in Indonesia was spreading and growing so well. Many a talented local crafter has influenced me to build motorcycles as an art of soul. I had two partners and some additional partners who always help me with my works, a good team.

Whats the make, model, and year of the bike?

The donor bike was 2005 Yamaha SX225 or also called Yamaha Scorpio 225 in Indonesia.

Why was this bike built?

This is a customer project. He wanted this bike to be a multi cross road transportation for his daily use.

What was the design concept and what influenced the build?

I built this bike for daily use purpose. To accompany my customer, Wendra, to his work office. So useful and fun to ride this between crowded traffic jam in Surabaya. The concept point was lightweight, easy, clean, and tall. So I tried to make a different and tasteful tracker rather than the usual other tracker. Classified Moto has always influenced me every time I’ve built a tracker or scrambler.

What custom work was done to the bike?

I cut the mainframe and subframe, replaced with new handmade frame. Replaced the original swing arm with fully handmade swing arm.

Complete the bike with side bag rack and multi purpose carrier behind.

The headlamp cover was inspired by flat trackers. The exhaust system was made by stainless steel pipe, place it beside the engine and flow through under the seat. So simple exhaust system and I really love it.

How would you classify this bike?

I loved to called it a tall-tracker.

Was there anything done during this build that you are particularly proud of?

I’m so proud that I could realize what the customer wanted with his bike. The customer’s satisfaction is always the highest appreciation for me. And finally this bike got The Golden Ticket from Suryanation Motorland Garage 2018 Surabaya.
