Viva La One Moto Vegas!
After 15 years of successful shows in Portland, The One Motorcycle Show made their Vegas debut earlier this month at The Western, a historic hotel and casino on Fremont Street, just a stone’s throw from the Las Vegas Strip.
Vegas was by no means a replacement for the Portland show, which is coming May 2-4th at Portland’s Zidell Yards, but rather a “once in a lifetime event” that coincided with AIMExpo, North America’s largest motorcycle and powersports tradeshow.
There were more than 100 custom bikes on display, along with live music and art, workshop demos, giveaways, market vendors, and plenty of food, beer, and of course coffee — after all, See See Motor Coffee Co. is the “underground motorcycle collective” and community coffeehouse behind The One Moto.
The Western itself was once the world’s largest bingo hall, and something of a gritty gem — once a part of Jackie Gaughan’s “low-roller” casino empire that included the Las Vegas Club, The Plaza, The Gold Spike, and El Cortez. The One Moto crew has an affinity for breathing new life into forgotten places, and The Western was the final stop on their Vegas venue scouting trip.
“We couldn’t shake the feeling that this one could be something special. Once we stepped inside, it was like a light bulb went off.”
For The One Moto Vegas, we were thrilled to have none other than Zane Cook of Z Cook Media (@zcookmedia) shooting for us. Zane is a longtime member of the moto community, and this was his first — but certainly not last — time being our man on the ground.
Though the lighting was better for atmosphere than photography, Zane managed to get some great shots of the many bikes on display. Without further ado, here are some highlights from the show. Got a favorite? Let us know in the comments!
