While café racers and scramblers continue to be the favored children of the customs world, our love for a good old roadster is stronger than ever. Few bikes strike such a great balance between classic style, everyday comfort, and sheer riding enjoyment. There’s a sense when you’re sitting astride a roadster, cruising tree-lined backroads or rumbling through town, that you’re riding the quintessential motorcycle, connected to generations of two-wheeled machines and the riders who piloted them.
Our friends at FCR Original have continued to build bespoke roadsters for their clients, mainly using modern Triumph and BMW models as their base platforms. Back in 2023, we featured a pair of “Ride & Chrome” roadsters the FCR crew built from a Triumph Speed Twin and T120 Bonneville — quite the classic pair.
Now they’re back with another T120 Bonneville in their “Ride & Chrome” series, which seeks to capture and elevate the spirit of the 60s. The T120, of course, is the 1200cc flagship model of the modern Triumph lineup, pairing a classic silhouette with the High-Torque parallel-twin engine, stealthy liquid-cooling, twin-disc front brakes, ride-by-wire throttle, ABS, and basic electronic riding modes.
This project combines Bentley-inspired Magenta bodywork with extensive detailing across the frame, mudguards, controls, and finishing touches. This particular bike was designed primarily for solo riding (90%), with occasional two-up use (10%). The frame features a bespoke rear modification, extending the passenger seating area by 50 mm to suit the overall concept of the build.
As always, FCR offers no standard projects — all their models are customizable according to the customer’s taste, desires, and intended use. In collaboration with the FCR designers, the owner creates a unique design, which workshop translates into a steel, chrome, and aluminum reality. Below, the FCR team gives us the full story on this new “Ride & Chrome” build.
“Ride & Chrome” T120: In the Builder’s Words
Our Client’s Story…
Passionate about motorcycles with character and bold design, Larz wanted a truly unique T120 exclusive, elegant and visually striking. His aim was to enhance the Triumph platform while preserving the bike’s vintage soul and timeless balance.
The project evolved into an authentic custom build, combining chrome, an exclusive colour scheme and handcrafted finishes to create a harmonious, refined motorcycle that is instantly recognisable.
Design & Visual Identity
The build combines a deep Magenta colour with chrome elements, polished surfaces and brushed components. Contrasting black accents and vintage brown upholstery give the T120 a classic, refined character, while highlighting the meticulous attention to detail throughout every component.
Team & Process
As with every FCR Original project, this Triumph T120 is the result of a complete handcrafted process:
- Concept & Design: FCR Original Team
- Bespoke Fabrication & Adaptation: frame, brackets and finishing components
- Paintwork & Finishes: Magenta paintwork, chrome, polished and brushed finishes
- Assembly & Setup: FCR Original mechanics
Every detail has been carefully refined to ensure visual consistency between the bodywork, metal components, and controls.
